With a new season underway, the Lady Lancers are very excited about the upcoming season. In his second season as head coach, Jason Coker is eager to see what this season has in store.

Several team members are returning, including seniors Elizabeth Alia, Katie Matrise and Tess Roberts. In addition, there are four new sophomores and a couple of incoming freshmen. Both the coaches and players have a very positive outlook for this season.

Last year the Lancers finished 4-12 in conference and 6-17 overall. Unfortunately, they had to endure a nine-game losing streak. This year they are predicted to finish third in their conference, behind both Racine Lutheran and Martin Luther. Last season Katie Matrise led the team in scoring with 22.2 points per game.

Senior Katie Matrise said, “I am very excited about this upcoming basketball season. The chemistry and team bond are there and I can’t wait to see what this season has in store.”

The Lady Lancers tip-off their first game at 7 p.m., Tue., Nov. 26 against Heritage Christian at St. Joseph Catholic Academy.
