Second in conference is a terrific way to end the 2019 girls volleyball season. With six wins and two losses overall, the girls secured the #2 seed for playoffs.

After their most recent loss in conference on October 1, against Dominican, the girls entered the WIAA state tournament on a four-game winning streak.

Looking over the season the team placed first in three out of the four tournaments played.

Team captain, Tori Schuler, maintains her stable lead for most kills in the conference with 78. Sophomore cousin, Ellie Schuler, is also leading her team and ranked second in conference for most assists with 127 throughout the season.

Senior right side, Amy Walther, is very confident as the team makes their way into playoffs. “We’ve been working so hard throughout this whole season, we’re looking forward to playoffs and personally I’m super excited to see how we’re going to do.”

Fellow teammate, Savannah Reed, added, “I cannot wait to see how we do in these games coming up, I think we have a super special group of girls this year and when we work together we are capable of doing anything we set our minds too.”

Head coach, Whitney Witthun, sees good things ahead for her team: “I am extremely excited heading into the playoffs this year. We are peaking at the right time and have the potential to go far this postseason. Since I have been a coach at SJCA we have never had a higher seed so going into regionals the bar is set high and I have all the faith in this group of girls that they will not disappoint.”

Now is the time for the student body to throw its support behind a great group of girls. “We hope to see you all there to support us!” said senior Walther.
