A bright future lies ahead for the track and field team. With a tremendous amount of training and countless hours devoted to logging miles and lifting, the Lancers don’t plan to disappoint.

At the recent St. Joseph Lancer Invite, the SJCA girls placed third while the boys team placed first with a score of 170, outdistancing second-place Dominican, 130. Now currently in Division 3, the Lancers plan to demolish competition in future meets to come.

The county meet boasted many astonishing performances. The SJCA boys, seeded below division 1 and division 2 schools, ended up exceeding original-seeded times of fourth place and medaled in all relays: 3200m relay, 800m relay, and the 1600m relay. Although this may be a good start to the season, rival teams are considering this a wake up call to know that they are coming.

Luke Nuzzo, former captain of the cross country team and now currently captain of the distance team states his expectations, “We are ready, the distance team has been preparing since cross country and in the off season in preparation for the tracknseason. I couldn’t ask for any other teammates to run with.”

Despite the weather, rain or shine, wind or snow line, the track team trains tirelessly to become the best athletes that they can be. Everyone is always looking forward to the next opportunity to race. Friendly rivalry and dreams of glory feeds the un-sedatable hunger of desire that craves the near-intangible taste of success.
